Private road trip from Bishkek to Karakol
Before my catskiing week in East Kyrgyzstan I had three days available to explore the country on the way to Jyrgalan so I hired Ilyas as my tour guide/driver. He picked me up from the airport before dawn and we immediately set off for a full day of exploring. We started with the stunning landscapes of Ala-Archa National Park, then relaxed at the hot springs in Issyk-Ata Gorge before continuing to Issyk-Kul Lake, where we spent the night at a cute lakeside resort. The next day we visited the incredible Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon, the Barskoon area with its waterfalls and Yuri Gagarin monument, the striking red rock formations of Seven Bulls, and the peaceful Kok-Jayik Valley. We finished the journey in the best possible way—spending the night in a traditional yurt camp and he gave me some tips to enjoy Karakol ski resort on the next day. Throughout the trip Ilyas was very friendly and knowledgeable about the region. The driving was safe, the itinerary was perfectly organized, and he made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to explore Kyrgyzstan.
